The cherry on the cake for this track was finally recording it to an old cassette. I had just found an unwanted cassette deck from my parents' house, so I took it back with me to university. I spent three days unsuccessfully trying to get it to work; during which time I accidentally sabotaged the eject mechanism and dislodged the drive belt from its wheel. When I finally got it back together, I could only make it record on its right channel, so I recorded the track's left and right channels separately and re-combined them. I think we take fidelity for granted in the age of digital recording.
